Add ASCII decoding fast paths and collation-key builtin stopword lookup. Fuse STANDARD filtering with scanning, collect NGRAM boundaries once, and borrow collated document tokens without changing query ownership or positional semantics. Verified with 25 related gtests, real TiUP E2E on macOS and h124, token sizes 2/3, and paired single-thread server benchmarks.
Normalize analyzer configuration for query compilation and share term collection and result finalization. Preserve scalar row-path arguments and tokenizer/matcher behavior. Add analyzer defaults and NULL-result regressions.

Yes, the expressions are logically equivalent. This rewrite was made in commit cd0b66d to address a readability-simplify-boolean-expr diagnostic from clang-tidy during CI. The repository treats clang-tidy warnings as errors. It does not change JSON behavior; we retained it to satisfy the lint check.

Added this equivalent Go predicate in solotzg@71904a207d, and synchronized the generator template in solotzg/tidb@6bf2b1a00d so regeneration preserves the explanation. The comment also distinguishes the helper's full Unicode classification from the Boolean lexer's separate BMP restriction (r <= 0xFFFF). This is documentation-only; the table and runtime classification are unchanged.

Yes, this change is intentional and necessary. The EE team does not guarantee that the Docker registry/image repository addresses remain stable, and the previously hard-coded repositories are no longer recommended. Requiring explicit PD_IMAGE, TIKV_IMAGE, and TIDB_IMAGE lets the invoking environment supply the maintained image locations and the appropriate component builds, without encoding obsolete registry assumptions or silently falling back to master images in these compose files.

Could we reject invalid node enums here instead of treating them as a query that matches nothing? The PR description says that invalid metadata is rejected, but an unset occur (defaulting to Invalid) reaches this branch and silently produces non-NULL zeros. The term_type default branch has the same behavior.
This is based on code inspection; I have not run a malformed-payload test, and I do not see evidence that the current TiDB serializer emits these values. Still, returning a normal no-match result can hide protocol construction errors. Please validate both node enums and throw ILLEGAL_COLUMN, with regression tests for missing/invalid occur and term_type.

Fixed in solotzg@71904a207d. The metadata decoder now validates every node's occur and term_type before NULL-search and analyzer no-match early returns. Missing, explicitly Invalid, or unknown enum values are rejected with ILLEGAL_COLUMN; the compiler's default branches also throw instead of treating malformed metadata as a normal no-match query.
Added regression coverage for both fields with missing/Invalid/unknown wire values, including a malformed node after a valid one, NULL searches, and analyzer no-match settings (24 combinations). I have not run these tests locally; validation is left to PR CI.
What problem does this PR solve?
Add row-wise Boolean Local MATCH to TiFlash scalar execution so eligible filters can run without relying on TiCI or inverted-index consistency. Related: pingcap/tidb#71397, pingcap/tidb#71839.
What is changed and how it works?
LocalMatchAgainstBoolean = 5250: decode the Boolean AST/analyzer payload fromExpr.valand evaluate document columns per row in TiFlash Selection. Semantic protocol version 2 is shared with TiDB; unsupported versions and invalid metadata are rejected. This is a scalar path, not scan-level FTS/TiCI index access.Dependencies
Paired with TiDB PR pingcap/tidb#71839. The scalar-ID reservation pingcap/tipb#431 and feature protocol pingcap/tipb#432 remain open and unmerged as checked on 2026-10-13. Both products must switch from the forked Tipb dependency to the merged official PingCAP revision before upstream integration. Code review can proceed while these dependencies are pending.
Correctness verification (2026-10-12)
AVAILABLE=1, compare complete matched results and require MATCH inmpp[tiflash]Selection without a root MATCH residual. Fallback tests compare complete row IDs and assert TiDB root evaluation. No TiCI path is used.Performance verification
On the shared h124 server, a development benchmark used 20,000 × 4 KiB repeated synthetic documents, STANDARD/NGRAM, stopwords OFF/ON, five query shapes, default MPP settings and native SQL threads=1. Single-connection TiFlash MPP end-to-end P50 was 2.96–6.95× faster than TiDB fallback across the selected cases; complete matched IDs and actual plan placement were checked. This compares different scan engines and execution paths, not isolated Go/C++ matcher speed.
Separate paired regression checks observed persistent small increases for NGRAM size=2 with stopwords ON: about 0.8–1.0% for TiDB word/prefix/phrase in an independent follow-up and 1.3–2.2% for TiFlash prefix/CJK in the main measurements. Root cause is not established; do not claim zero performance regression or use other cases' improvements to cancel these observations.
These are development measurements, not an SLA or release acceptance. The host is shared, CPU frequency is not pinned, the corpus is repetitive and highly compressible, and h124 TiFlash is RELWITHDEBINFO (
-O2 -g -DNDEBUG), not an official release package. Tests use official v8.5.8 PD/TiKV with locally built modified products, identified by runtime versions and binary fingerprints; TiDB identity is checked withtidb_version(). Raw logs, measurements, complete-result/plan records and detailed reports are retained outside the product repositories and are not public CI artifacts.Remaining acceptance work
Opt-in memory pressure was skipped; ASAN/UBSAN and full token/position differential coverage remain pending. Ready for code review does not mean formal release acceptance.
